Environmental Policy Statement

At MK Catering NE Limited we recognise that our operations have an effect on the environment and we wish to minimise the potentially harmful effects of such activity wherever and whenever possible.

We also recognise that good environmental management must be an integral and fundamental part of our business strategy.

We endeavour to protect the environment and promote local businesses sourcing our produce locally helps to lower our carbon footprint.

Our meat is raised on farms where the animals are free to roam, our fish are sustainably caught or ethically farmed.

Our fruit and vegetables are locally purchased when in season and our bread is made daily by our local bakery.

Statement

Our policy is to meet or exceed all environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice. We are committed to the prevention of pollution and to minimising the impact of our operations on the environment. This environmental policy is the company’s statement of environmental goals which outline our commitment to continual environmental improvement.

Energy use

We will use environmentally safe and sustainable energy sources to meet our needs whenever possible and turn off equipment when not in use.
We cook with LPG which has a smaller carbon foot print than electricity.

Resources

We will improve our environmental performance by conserving energy, water, wood, paper and other resources, particularly those which are scarce or non-renewable, though efficient use and careful planning, while still providing a safe and comfortable working environment.

Products

We will consider the environmental impacts of our products at all stages of their life cycle from design to manufacturing, customer use and disposal.

Recycling

We will promote recycling and use of recycled and refurbished products and materials where such alternatives are economical and suitable, while reducing consumption of materials wherever possible. Recycling is very important to us and this is why our stationary is printed using recycled paper. We also recycle our cardboard and paper products, and are committed to trying to recycle 100% of our glass bottle waste.

Waste Disposal

We will minimise waste, especially hazardous waste, in all our operations and product development and will dispose of all waste though safe and responsible methods. All of our used cooking oil is taken from our depot and turned into bio fuel by a specialist company. We are registered with the Environment Agency a lower tier waste carrier.

Transportation

All of our vehicles are euro 6 compliant and along with coordinating route planning we will seek to reduce fuel consumption and lower exhaust emissions.

Training

We include environmental issues in all company training programs and encourage the implementation by all company staff of sound environment practices.

As a business we are wholly committed to these aims, objectives, policies and promises. We will ensure adequate and appropriate resources are made available to implement and review this policy on a regular basis.
